Aphasia
Aphasia is an breakdown in how you are able to produce and understand spoken and written language, caused by any form of brain injury (stroke, disease, concussion, TBI). Your SLP will evaluate your communication skills and help to restore them! Our goal is to allow you to communicate as effectively as possible to reclaim your independence and confidence. We will work with you to talk with your family, order at a restaurant, talk on the phone, make appointments, and teach your loved ones how to support you. This is no cookie-cutter therapy. You will receive individualized therapy, meaningful to you and your loved ones.

Apraxia is an impairment of planning and formulation of speech sounds. Symptoms of apraxia may include
- Saying the wrong sounds in a word
- Leaving sounds out
- Inconsistent accuracy of your speech sounds
- Groping with your tongue or lips to find the sounds
- Not being able to say any sounds at all.
- Slurred or drunken speech
- Speaking too slowly or too quickly
- Soft and quiet speech
- Slow and labored speech
- Harsh speech that sounds robotic or choppy
- Easily fatigued when talking
